3CD products for perfect results

AH Automation’s fully-owned subsidiary, 3CD Gradnings-teknologi AB, manufactures and sells customized deburring and polishing facilities. The 3CD method is patented and is based upon an electrochemical principle which works with a direct current electrical circuit in an electrolyte. Without having either a mechanical, chemical or thermal impact, a perfect result is achieved when deburring, improving metallic surfaces and polishing. This method is currently primarily used in the pharmaceutical and automotive industries.

3CD offers two machine series: Flexible A and Flexible B. The two machines differ in their chassis and tank size.

The standard sizes of our rectifiers are 100 A, 200 A and 350 A, which caters for the needs of most customers, although we can, of course, adapt the size and customize the machine according to your needs.

For several years, we have also supplied a number of different customized machines for our customers – mainly for those working in the automotive industry and for their suppliers. The customization of the machines is determined by the design of the parts being processed and by the customer’s requirements for automated production.

3CD method for quality and function

Burrs, in the form of residual metal and sharp edges on surfaces, arise during practically all processing of metals. These burrs need to be dealt with in order to achieve the best possible finish, quality and function for the product.

The 3CD method enables you to achieve a perfect result without any mechanical, chemical or thermal impact, for both deburring and the polishing of precision mechanical parts.

The 3CD method is a highly flexible, convenient and environmentally friendly process which, briefly put, consists of a direct current electrical circuit in an electrolyte (an electrically conductive liquid). This method can be used both for manual and automatic processing, and means that the deburring and polishing is performed, in most cases, by the part being immersed in an electrolytic bath. For parts with a complicated design, the method can be supplemented with specially adapted tools.

The extent of the deburring is directly proportionate to the strength of the current and time, but is also affected by the electrolyte’s composition, concentration, flow, temperature and conductive capacity in combination with the metal’s propensity for passivation (surface conversion).

The 3CD method works with two types of environmentally-friendly electrolytes – ECF-A and ECF-C – encompassing practically all metals, such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, bronze and brass.

Our specialist employees perform bespoke work with deburring and polishing in our own high-tech facility. Together with the customer, we map your needs and deliver the best solution with the highest quality and competitive prices.

We undertake a number of bespoke deburring assignments on a continual basis, both within precision engineering and the pharmaceuticals industry. We also deburr parts that have been stamped, laser-cut or etched.

Test-deburring to help you decide

Are you not quite sure whether the 3CD method is suitable for your business? We will happily perform a test-deburring in our laboratory, once we have received information about your conditions, technical data and requirements.

With the foundation provided by the approved test result, you will gain a firmer basis for further planning. Working closely together with you, the customer, we will then produce a specification to underpin the quotation. The 3CD facility is then designed and adapted entirely accordingly to your preferences.
